The screening and panel discussion is a free community event in celebration of CFW's upcoming 28th Annual Luncheon featuring co-authors of Half the Sky, Sheryl WuDunn and Nicholas Kristof.

The program title--Half the Sky --is taken from the landmark PBS mini-series.  The documentary follows Kristof and celebrity activists as they travel to six countries and meet inspiring, courageous individuals who are confronting oppression and developing real, meaningful solutions through health care, education and economic empowerment for women and girls.

The program begins with a 45 minute excerpt from Half the Sky, followed by a lively panel discussion.  Panelists include moderator K. Sujata, President and CEO of Chicago Foundation for Women; Gaylon Alcaraz, Executive Director of Chicago Abortion Fund; Gabrielle Lyon, founder of Project Exploration; and Sharmili Majmudar, Executive Director of Rape Victim Advocates.
