As technology continues to evolve, it is critical to instill and reinforce the concepts of "digital citizenship." This interactive presentation will provide foundational information about current trends in internet use and social media; explore the connection between social media and violence taking place in CVPP communities; offer tips on setting parental controls to keep youth safe; and suggest action steps parents can take in their own families and communities to ensure safe use of the internet.

Join us as Lizveth Mendez (June 18th - Presentation in Spanish) & Melissa Hemzacek (June 19th - Presentation in English) from the Illinois Attorney General's Office discuss the following topics on internet safety:

    • Cyberbullying
    • Digital citizenship
    • Privacy
    • Sites/apps most used by youth/teens
    • Self-representation
    • Sexting and online predation
The goal of the Internet Safety Workshop is to increase understanding and knowledge of internet safety along with providing parents with practical tips to protect youth online. This workshop will also highlight available resources that will assist parents in facilitating digital safety conversations with their children.
